At the recent FenCon science fiction convention in Dallas during one of the panels I was participating in, the conversation turned to the fact that the Bond franchise never acknowledged within its ongoing narrative the fact that the lead actor changed (unlike, say, Doctor Who.) The only exception to this I could think of at the time was George Lazenby’s “This never happened to the other fella” line at the end of the OHMSS pre-credits sequence. Later I remembered this trailer for Goldeneye as perhaps the only other occasion. OK it’s not within the narrative, but it does at least acknowledge the change with Brosnan’s “Perhaps you were expecting someone else?” quip.
